EVM provides automated fulfillment of self-service requests for a broad range of audiences with a wide spectrum of approval options for virtualized IT Services offered in a service catalog. The provisioning of requested services by EVM includes a wide variety of configurable pre- and post-provisioning activities, such as best-fit resource placement and customization, eliminating all manual steps in the provisioning process, and dramatically reducing service fulfillment times. Real-time status updates are presented to requestors so they can track the progress of their requests from initiation and approval through delivery. After a request is fulfilled, EVM enables the continuous self-management of the provisioned virtual IT services from the secure, web-based EVM management portal, while automatically keeping the configuration items up to date in the CMDB.

Hidden behind the apparent ease and simplicity of each self-service request, EVM Automate is ensuring that all of the management processes and activities are performed, and, at the same time, that appropriate customer configuration and security standards are enforced. Any required interactions and integration with the target virtual platform and other management systems to perform the provisioning, server guest customization, IP address management systems (IPAM), configuration and asset management systems, networking services such as DNS and DHCP, Active Directory, domain management, and other key management tasks are completely automated.

After the request is made, it is queued for necessary approvals, or can leverage automatic approval processes. As soon as the request is approved, EVM Automate begins the required tasks. Once the request is completed, an e-mail is sent to the requestor informing them that the request has been fulfilled. A link to EVM’s web-based self-service portal is also provided where they can manage and operate their new virtual machines under EVM’s policy-based control. EVM will continue to track and manage the new virtual machine through retirement.
